Why did we create ExploreWaynesville.com?
Larry and Jenn started Blue Ridge Mountain Life, a highly successful travel site focused on things to see and do in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Eastern United States. The site is operated from our home here in Waynesville NC and near Maggie Valley NC.
Over the past couple of years, we noticed there was a gap in information on the Waynesville NC area, along with a trend in more interest in Waynesville. We decided to fill this gap by starting Explore Waynesville NC.
Explore Waynesville provide extensive written guides, full of photos, to help you learn more about this wonderful town and all of the great things to see and do here. We'll share information on things to do, places to visit, hiking trails, waterfalls, attractions, places to stay, places to eat and more!
Who are Larry and Jenn?
Larry and Jenn are travel bloggers, focused on the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and North Georgia. Waynesville is our hometown, and we live just outside of the town near Maggie Valley NC.
Larry and Jenn have been married for over 30 years, and our relationship with these mountains extends back to well before that. As children, we both visited these mountains and fell in love with them. As teenagers, when we first started dated, we started exploring these mountains together. They became part of us.
We moved our young family here more than 15 years ago, and made Waynesville our home. We love exploring these mountains and Waynesville NC, and sharing our experiences with you.
Larry Deane, Co-Owner, Publisher, Photographer/Videographer, Webmaster, SEO Guru and Social Media Expert
Larry has been a software developer since he was 11 years old. He also started photography as a hobby, around that same time, and purchased his first "professional" camera at the age of 16.
Larry began building websites to share information with others in 2006, and created Blue Ridge Mountain Life in 2008, and Explore Waynesville in 2023.
Larry writes all of the content for the websites, manages the websites, and does most of the social media work.
Beyond that, Larry enjoys hiking, discovering new waterfalls, model trains, and cars. Larry is originally from Northern Virginia, but has lived in North Carolina for over 40 years.
Jenn Deane, Co-Owner, Photographer/Videographer, Social Media Manager and Graphic artist
Jenn is an artist and started drawing, and painting at a young age. She ventured into photographer in order to photograph her children, and has been taking photos ever since.
Jenn assists Larry with photographer, videography, proof-reading, quality control, business ideas, and works hard managing our social media.
Jenn enjoys taking care of her family, drawing, painting, and doing digital art. She also enjoys being active and outdoors, including gardening, hiking, and exploring waterfalls. She also enjoys cooking and trying new and healthy recipes. Jenn is a native born North Carolinian.
Our Family
Together, Larry and Jenn have a large family of 6 children. Our 5 boys are all grown adults now, out on their own and living life. Two of them are active duty servicemen, one works in IT, one is a manager for a regional business, and the other is local law enforement. Our daughter is still at home, and looks forward to attending college soon to become a writer.
