Are you a foodie looking for the best breakfast in Waynesville, NC? Well, you're in luck because this charming mountain town has plenty of great options to satisfy your morning taste buds.  

You'll find locally owned establishments that serve up all of your breakfast favorites, and most have a number of unique breakfast options as well.  Be sure to pay attention to their specials as well, as they will often use locally sourced ingredients, and seasonal and local items such as ramps.

But enough yapping!  In this guide, we'll highlight our top picks, as locals, where you an get the very best breakfast in Waynesville:

The Buttered Biscuit

The Buttered Biscuit is our go to place for breakfast in Waynesville NC.   The atmosphere and decor are simple and basic, but the food, well it's amazing.  

The Buttered Biscuit is known locally for their huge "cat head" biscuits with gravy.  They are also well known for their other biscuit sandwiches, pancakes, and waffles. 

The menu at The Buttered Biscuit features a variety of classic breakfast options, as well as some unique dishes like the "Breakfast Bowl," which is a large bowl with hash browns, eggs, sausage or bacon, and gravy.

Our personal favorites are: the breakfast bowls, scrambled eggs with corned beef hash (fried crispy) with biscuits and crazy, and their French Toast.  We love to get the pancakes every so often as well.

The service is friendly, portions are huge, and the prices are very reasonable, making the Buttered Biscuit a great place to start your day.  Others must agree, because it's constantly packed!

Beach Mountain Diner

If you're looking for a classic American diner experience, Beach Mountain Diner in the Hazelwood section of Waynesville is the place to be. 

This retro-style diner serves up all the breakfast classics, including eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and waffles. The portions are generous, and the prices are affordable.  They even have multiple options of Eggs Benedict.

Beach Mountain Diner is the newest breakfast spot on this list, but has quickly become one of our favorites, and a favorite of locals and visitors as well.  

The atmosphere is cozy and nostalgic, with vintage décor and a jukebox that plays oldies. The Beach Mountain Diner is a great spot for a casual breakfast with friends or family.   

Kornerstone Kafe

For a great breakfast experience, head over to the Kornerstone Kafe.  This charming café serves up all of your breakfast favorites, including omelets, pancakes, French toast, sandwiches, and even breakfast wraps. 

The cafe offers a welcoming atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating options. The interior is decorated with a mix of vintage and modern decor, creating a unique and comfortable ambiance.  Service is excellent and friendly.

Breakfast prices are very reasonable for good old home style food.  Exactly what you would expect at Mama's house.

Crepe and Custard

If you're in the mood for something sweet, the Crepe and Custard is the place to be. This cute Crepe Cafe in Lake Junaluska specializes in sweet and savory crepes, as well as homemade custards.

The menu features a variety of unique crepe options, including the "Maple Bacon" and the "Strawberry Nutella." The service is friendly, and the prices are reasonable.   If you are looking for Gluten Free options, this is the place for you.  They offer a number of Gluten free options.

The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, with both indoor and outdoor seating options.  The restaurant is also lakeside offering incredible views of Lake Junaluska.   This makes for a great stop after talking a morning walk on the lake, to relax, eat some wonderful crepes and drink a warm cup of coffee.

Haywood 209 Cafe

Last but not least, the Haywood 209 Cafe is a popular breakfast spot located just outside of Waynesville in Clyde, just a few miles outside of Waynesville and just off I-40. 

This cozy restaurant serves a variety of breakfast options, including omelets, pancakes, and biscuits and gravy. The portions are generous, and the prices are affordable.   They also have some specialities, including a Philly Omelet, 209 Breakfast Burrito, and Breakfast bowls.

The service is friendly, and the atmosphere is laid back and casual. The Haywood 209 Cafe is a great spot for a hearty breakfast before a day of exploring the area.
